Overview

This project focused on creating a highly functional kitchen garden that supports year-round food production while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The goal was to design a space that balances productivity, durability, and ease of use over time.

The layout was developed to encourage daily interaction, efficient movement through the garden, and long-term adaptability as planting needs evolve.

Scope of Work

  • Site evaluation and garden layout planning

  • Design of a multi-bed kitchen garden system

  • Integration of greenhouse structure for extended seasonal use

  • Material selection and bed placement to support long-term performance

  • Installation and coordination with existing site conditions

Design Considerations

Key considerations included sun exposure, access paths, soil conditions, and the relationship between permanent structures and planting areas. Circulation through the garden was prioritized to support harvesting, maintenance, and seasonal transitions without disrupting planting zones.

The design emphasizes repetition and clarity, allowing the garden to remain organized and functional even as plantings change throughout the year.

Outcome

The result is a cohesive kitchen garden that supports long-term food production, integrates naturally with the site, and continues to function well as the garden matures. The space is designed to evolve with use, rather than requiring frequent redesign or intervention.
