Training & Credentials
My role in projects is to help homeowners make landscape decisions before they become costly site problems.
My work is grounded in formal horticultural training and informed by professional practice working with real sites and long-term outcomes. This foundation shapes how I approach garden consulting, coaching, and landscape design—supporting thoughtful decision-making, sound plant selection, and landscapes that function as integrated systems rather than short-term installations.
Education & Training
I hold a degree in horticulture, with academic focus on plant systems, soil health, and long-term landscape performance. My training emphasizes understanding how plants, soil, water, and management practices interact over time, rather than relying on surface-level or trend-driven solutions. This background supports evaluating site conditions, plant suitability, and long-term maintenance realities before implementation decisions are made.
Professional Practice
In addition to academic training, my work is shaped by ongoing field experience working with real sites, real constraints, and real homeowners. I run a professional garden and landscape practice serving the Upstate of South Carolina, where projects often begin with edible gardens or kitchen gardens and evolve into broader ecological landscape planning. Many projects begin with gardens but quickly involve larger property decisions, where early planning prevents expensive revisions later.
Ongoing Development
I continue to build on my horticultural foundation through applied work, continued study, and professional development. This ongoing learning informs my consulting, coaching, and design work and supports an approach grounded in clarity, systems thinking, and long-term success.
Continued study focuses on applied performance — how landscapes function years after installation, not just at completion.
This training and experience support a systems-based approach focused on long-term performance rather than short-term installation results.
